Terms of Service

These terms describe how EV Street Co sells and installs a curbside EV charging station, and what happens after we leave. The binding document is the signed installation agreement and service agreement, not this page. Where the two differ, the signed agreement wins.

1. What you are buying

A Level 2 EV charging station, installed at your property, plus the electrical work to make it run: the circuit, the trench and conduit, the disconnect, the permit, and the inspection.

You own the station outright. Title passes to you on final payment and completion of the install. It is not leased, financed, or licensed to you. You may sell it, move it at your own cost, resell the property with it, or stop using it. EV Street Co retains no interest in the hardware and no right to remove or disable it.

2. What EV Street Co provides after the install

We operate the payment layer: the card reader, the transaction, and the payout to you.

Our fee is $1.00 per charging session plus 10% of the charge on that session. Card processing is passed through at cost and is not marked up. There is no monthly fee, no fee on the hardware, and no minimum term. If your station sits idle for a month, you owe us nothing for that month.

Payout frequency is not yet fixed. Your service agreement will state the payout schedule and the account we remit to, and we will not start taking payments at your station before that is agreed in writing.

Either party may end the payment service with 30 days’ notice. If it ends, the station remains yours; you would need another way to take payment.

3. What you are responsible for

• The rate. You set what drivers pay and you may change it at any time. We neither set nor approve your pricing.
• The electricity. The station runs on your service and your meter. That cost is yours.
• Upkeep after the warranty period. Cleaning, damage, and wear are yours.
• Your tax position. Charging revenue is income. We do not give tax advice; talk to your accountant before the first payout.
• The site. Keeping the space accessible and the station reachable for service.

4. Warranty

Terms on labour and on the equipment have not been set. This is the first question a customer asks after price, and this page must not go live without an answer.

5. Liability and insurance

Once the station is energised and title has passed, you own an electrical device that members of the public physically handle. How risk is allocated between you and EV Street Co, what cover each party carries, and what you need to add to your own policy are unresolved. Insurance has not yet been quoted or bound.

Do not treat the absence of terms here as an assumption of risk by EV Street Co.

6. Regulatory status of selling charging

Roughly forty states have passed a statutory exemption confirming that selling EV charging does not make you a regulated public utility. Illinois has not passed an equivalent provision that we are relying on; the Illinois Electric Vehicle Charging Act (765 ILCS 1085) addresses a tenant’s and unit owner’s right to install charging, not the regulatory status of reselling power.

We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. EV Street Co makes no representation that operating a paid public charging station at your property is or is not a regulated activity in Illinois. Get your own advice before you switch it on.

7. Permits and the public way

Curbside work sits in the public right-of-way. That means a City of Chicago public-way permit in addition to the electrical permit, and it means the parking space is not reserved for you or for charging unless the city says otherwise. Anyone may park there.

If you are expecting a dedicated, reserved space, this product does not give you one. Say so before we quote.

8. Rebates

Rebate amounts, eligibility rules, and available funding are set by ComEd and by government programmes, not by us. They change without notice and can run out. Nothing on this site is a guarantee that you will receive any rebate, or that any figure quoted here will still be available when you apply.

9. Drivers

Drivers using your station are your customers, not ours. Disputes about your posted rate, availability, or the parking space are between you and them. We will supply session records to help you resolve them.

10. Site content

Prices, ranges, and specifications on this site are indicative and subject to change. Nothing here is an offer capable of acceptance. A quote for your property is the only binding number.
